Run Web Server Using Chrome
Run Web Server Using Chrome
Chrome Web Browser allows users to install Extension and Apps. Extensions are script modules with little or no UI components. Apps are script modules that run inside Chrome applications with dedicated user interface and typically, rich user interaction.
You can find a variety of Extensions and Apps in Chrome Appstore. One of the interesting Apps that will be discussed here is Web Server for Chrome.
1) Go to Chrome App Store.
2) Search and Install.
Type the keyword “web server”.
You should get the results as shown below.
Click the button + ADD TO CHROME .
3) Run
All Chrome Apps are accessible from the Apps Button located at the top left corner of the browser window as shown below.
Click the button and the browser window will display all your Chrome Apps icons. Find the Web Server icon.
Click the icon.
The Apps Window that you see above works similar to that of Apache-MySql-PHP servers such as XAMPP, WAMP etc. The only part that is missing here is the PHP module. You cannot execute PHP scripts on this server. Nevertheless, this apps is the simplest approach to test HTML5 Frameworks such as Angular and Ionic without additional software apart from Chrome Web Browser.
